Swank Campaign Blasts Ed Troyer Over Harassment of Women Volunteers and Vandalism

TACOMA, Wash. — The campaign for Police Captain Keith Swank is speaking out after several weeks of harassment, theft, and vandalism involving Pierce County Sheriff Ed Troyer and Patti Jackson.

“Everyone knows that Mr. Troyer has a history of creating his own reality, which has cost Pierce County taxpayers millions of dollars,” Swank said.

“This is the same conduct that led to his placement on the Brady List, a legal registry of law enforcement officers banned from testifying in court.”

Swank’s campaign reports that volunteers were working to repair campaign signs that had been vandalized, ostensibly by Mr. Troyer, who then stalked and harassed one of the volunteers.

The woman, who was reportedly followed around town and subjected to verbal abuse, has since filed a formal written complaint.

“Mr. Troyer harassed and intimidated a woman volunteer, following her for a long distance and belligerently screaming obscenities. It shocked and terrified her,” Swank said.

The harassment escalated when Troyer took to social media, posting altered photographs and spreading false claims.

“Troyer has learned the hard way that there are consequences when you lie to authorities,” Swank said. “Now, social media appears to be his only outlet.”

Complaints about Troyer’s behavior, including false claims and acting outside the law, have been filed repeatedly.

“We encourage other victims or anyone who has been targeted by Mr. Troyer to come forward,” Swank added. “To see such a fall from grace for what was once a popular local official is deeply disappointing,” Swank said.

“It’s clear that Mr. Troyer should no longer be entrusted with a badge. He should resign immediately and seek professional anger management counseling.”
