Police Captain Keith Swank Pledges Clean-Up of Pierce County, as Jackson Campaign Spreads Misinformation

Puyallup, Wash. — Police Captain Keith Swank is calling out his opponent, Jail Chief Patti Jackson, for what he describes as a desperate attempt to mislead voters about her record.

“Just a few months after her no-confidence vote, Jackson’s campaign is resorting to misinformation to distract from her lack of law enforcement experience and qualifications,” said Swank. “Voters deserve transparency as they have the ultimate endorsement with their vote, my endorsees are publicly available on SwankForSheriff.com.”

Recent inquiry revealed that some of Jackson’s purported endorsements may have been fabricated. “The only question now is: How much more of her record has been invented or distorted?” Swank questioned. “It’s a troubling pattern of deception that raises serious concerns about her candidacy for the highest law enforcement office in the county, and the lack of accountability over ongoing problems at Pierce County Jail raises further questions about Jackson’s judgment”

Swank questioned Jackson’s reliance on endorsements from a select group of local politicians, stating, “Instead of showcasing relevant experience for the position, her campaign leans solely on individuals who presided over a troubling rise in local crime rates. Just months out of the police academy, and having never made arrests on street patrol, she clearly lacks the experience necessary to effectively lead as a county sheriff.”

Adding to the controversy, Swank pointed out that one of Jackson’s endorsements comes from Ed Troyer, the only county sheriff currently on the Brady List—a designation given to officers who cannot testify in court due to misleading statements made in their official capacity.

“Troyer, Jackson, and others like George Janovich represent a dark chapter in our county’s history that we can hopefully close very soon,” Swank noted.

Captain Swank’s campaign is backed by a diverse coalition of current and retired elected officials, law enforcement officials, and community leaders, all committed to ensuring effective law enforcement in the county.
